Definitely Something, You Decide is a collection of satirical poems, observations, and reflections about the everyday absurdities we somehow learn to accept: work meetings that could have been emails, arbitrary systems everyone follows because someone once decided they should, and the strange little acts of laziness, habit, and stubbornness that make modern life recognizable.

Some pieces are built for a laugh. Others start funny and leave something behind to think about. Together, they blend humor, hindsight, and a bit of philosophy without taking any of it too seriously.

Inside are poetic snapshots of modern life, small annoyances inflated to their proper comic proportions, observations about work and culture, and reflections that may make you laugh, nod, or groan because you have done exactly the same thing.

If you have ever looked at something completely ordinary and thought, There has to be a point to this… right? this collection may be for you.

Because in the end, it’s definitely something.

You decide what.

One change I would make from the original: I’d drop the “Perfect for fans of Mark Twain, Shel Silverstein…” line unless you specifically want that comparison for Amazon marketing. The description is stronger when it stands on its own.

This collection grew out of the random things that make me smile.

Sometimes the spark is an anonymous internet meme. Sometimes it’s a line from a television show, an old barroom joke, an overheard comment, or one of those ordinary moments that suddenly becomes funny when you look at it from the right angle. A phrase catches my attention, turns into a thought, and sometimes the thought becomes a poem or reflection.

The pieces in Definitely Something, You Decide are inspired by life in general and by the odd bits of humor, contradiction, and absurdity that show up everywhere if you’re paying attention.

A note on attribution: some pieces were inspired by jokes, memes, or sayings whose original source was unclear or impossible to verify at the time. If you recognize the original author, creator, or source of something referenced here, I’d genuinely like to know so future editions can include proper credit where appropriate.
