Seamus Ailin™ is one of my writing voices, focused on wonder-filled poetry and stories for younger readers and the young at heart.
Where The Sawdust Sage™ leans reflective and James Allen leans memoir, Seamus Ailin writes with curiosity, humor, and a childlike lens on the world — the same heart, just a different storytelling voice.
2) Are your books on Goodreads?
Yes — most titles by The Sawdust Sage™, James Allen, and Seamus Ailin™ are listed on Goodreads.
You can search by book title or author name to:
- Track your reading
- Leave reviews
- Add books to your shelves
Reader reviews are always appreciated — they help other readers discover the work organically.
3) Are your books available at Barnes & Noble?
Some titles may appear on Barnes & Noble’s website depending on distribution, but Amazon is currently the primary and most reliable place to purchase my books. At in-person markets and events, we also carry a limited selection of signed copies when inventory allows.
4) What would you recommend for a preteen reader?
Great question — that in-between age matters.
For most preteens (roughly 10–15) , readers often enjoy:
"Definitely Something, You Decide" — humor and observational pieces that land well with thoughtful middle readers
Select titles from The Sawdust Sage™ catalog for mature younger readers who enjoy reflective but accessible writing
If you’re unsure, feel free to reach out — matching the right book to the right reader is one of my favorite converions at markets.
5) If I buy on Amazon, can I still get an autograph?
Yes — absolutely.
If you purchase a book on Amazon and would like it signed, you have a couple options: Bring the book to any market or event where All En Crafts™ is appearing...Or contact us through the website to arrange signed bookplate options when available. I’m always happy to personalize a book when logistics allow.
6) What’s James’s personal favorite?
If I had to pick just one, it would be: "Coffee Fueled Sunday Mornings" It captures the quiet, reflective tone that sits closest to the heart of my writing — the kind of pieces meant to be read slowly, preferably with a warm mug nearby.
7) What’s your best-selling book (so far)?
As of now, the reader favorite in terms of sales has been: "Unrequested Advice About Love, Marriage & Other Topics"
It tends to resonate because it blends humor, lived experience, and the kind of lessons many of us only learn the long way around. (And yes — it’s often the one people come back to tell me about later.)
8) What was your first book?
My first published book was: "Sawdust to Stardust". It laid the foundation for much of what followed — reflections grounded in work, craft, and the everyday moments that tend to matter more than we expect. If you like seeing where a writing journey begins, this is the place to start.
9) When did you start writing?I’ve been writing off and on since the 1980s, back when I was an English minor at Iowa State University and floppy disks were still a thing. Over the years I accumulated a respectable pile of notes, fragments, and “I’ll finish that someday” ideas.
After retiring, I finally had the time to turn more of that backlog into actual books — converting decades of scribbles into something a bit more organized in ones and zeros.
10) How many books have you written?
I have several titles currently available across my different writing voices, with additional projects in progress. The catalog keeps growing as time in the workshop turns into time at the keyboard.
